An auto-rickshaw driver from Pinjore and his brother were allegedly attacked for apparently “operating outside the defined area” on Tuesday afternoon.

Nanhe Singh, a native of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh who runs an auto on rent, said he had parked his auto along the road near Khanna Hospital in Pinjore. “Meanwhile, an auto-rickshaw driver with his two aides on board stopped near me and questioned me why I have parked my auto at their ‘adda’.”

The key suspect, identified as Neeraj, hurdled abuses at the victim and threatened him to go away. “Soon, one of his two aides, Lokendra Kumar, took out an iron rod of their auto and hit me on my head several times, leaving me bleeding. My brother Vikram, who was present nearby, rushed to my rescue, but Neeraj also attacked him with the rod,” the victim said.

He added, “As my rented accommodation was a few meters from the spot, my family members too reached the spot. After seeing them, the suspects fled in their auto. Before leaving, they threatened to kill me,” stated the FIR quoting the complainant.

The injured brothers were taken to a hospital for treatment. A case in this regard was registered against Neeraj, Lokendra and Netrpal at the Pinjore police station. —
