Panchkula cops seize heroin, opium worth Rs 14 lakh; three arrested

The Panchkula Police have made a major breakthrough by arresting three drug peddlers and seizing heroin and opium worth around Rs 14 lakh under ‘Operation Trackdown’.
The arrests were made in separate operations conducted by the Crime Branch, Sector 26, and the Anti-Narcotics Cell. In the first case, a team led by Inspector Dalip Singh apprehended Idnan (28), a resident of Saharanpur, UP, from near Swami Devi Dyal College. A search led to the recovery of 285 grams of heroin, valued approximately Rs 8.14 lakh. The accused was produced before a court and remanded to three days’ police custody for further investigation into his supply network.
In the second case, the Anti-Narcotics Cell, headed by in-charge Praveen, arrested Ramu (42), a native of Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, from Chauki Road village, Chandimandir, while he was on a motorcycle. The police recovered 1.342 kg of opium, worth about Rs 6 lakh. His associate Ajay Gupta, a resident of Sector 25, Panchkula, was also arrested.
