Panchkula DC inspects food shops, warns encroachers of action
Checked food items for expiry date in markets
Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma carried out a surprise inspection of dairy, sweets and other food shops in the markets of Sectors 7 and 9 markets here late Wednesday evening.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner checked the food items for expiry date and instructed officials to send any suspected stuff to accredited laboratories for testing. He reiterated that only items meeting prescribed quality standards should be sold and warned of strict action against those found selling adulterated or substandard products.
Sharma also appealed to consumers to carefully verify the quality, manufacturing date and expiry date of food items before purchase. He highlighted that unhygienic practices in food establishments could contribute to the spread of diseases, urging shopkeepers to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
The Deputy Commissioner also took a strict stand against illegal encroachments by shopkeepers placing products outside their stalls. He stated that notices would be issued to violators and directed officials from the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and Municipal Corporation to remove all such obstructions promptly.
Sharma further instructed the officials that Vita booths selling items beyond their licensed list would face stringent action, including the potential revocation of their licences.
