As part of its efforts to tackle drug addiction and drug-related violence, the police’s anti-drug awareness team constituted on December 2 under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Shri Rakesh Kumar Arya, IPS has so far identified 60 drug addicts. Of these, five were admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment, and another one has already been discharged.
The team has maintained regular contact with more than 10 people, who are being counseled and provided necessary medicines and psychological support. Soon, rehabilitation services will be made available to others as well, police officials said.
On Saturday, the Commissioner of Police conducted an in-depth review of the work done so far.
He analyzed the work and discussed in detail all the possible aspects, which can help the team work more effectively and provide assistance to more victims.
The meeting was also attended by two doctors from Civil Hospital and three volunteers from Ganeshpur Bhauria and Rampur Suidi. The doctors expressed their commitment to actively cooperate in this campaign and shared information about drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers for rehabilitation of drug addicts.
