A proclaimed offender (PO) allegedly escaped from the office of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nupur Bishnoi in Sector 5 here today. The incident took place in the presence of Sector 5 police station in-charge Rajeev Miglani.

A Panchkula court had declared Satya Sinha a PO in January this year in a cheque-bounce case. A direction was issued to the police to file an FIR under Section 174-A of the IPC.

In another case registered against her in 2019, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed her to join the investigation and hand over the draft of initial amount of Rs 15 lakh to the investigating officer (IO) so that it could be given to the complainant, Virender Sharma.

Satya Sinha, along with another accused, appeared before the IO today. They were subsequently produced before ACP Nupur Bishnoi, the head of the SIT constituted in the case.

Sharma alleged that when the accused were presented before the ACP, the second party, who had lodged a cheque-bounce complaint against them, also reached there and told the IO that they had been already declared PO. He further alleged that despite the other party’s alert, the duo fled under the nose of the police staff present there.

Sharma, a resident of Zirakpur, had filed a complaint against three owners of a Bengaluru-based company, Chisel, and its chief business officer Satya Sinha for duping him of Rs 75.01 lakh.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Kamal Deep Goyal has marked an inquiry into the fleeing of the PO.
