Chandigarh: Divya Grover of Shishu Niketan School, Sector 22(D), won the first prize in an inter-school declamation contest organised by Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society to observe World No Tobacco Day. Pranjay of St Joseph’s School, Sector 44, claimed second position and Manushree of Vivek High School, Mohali, finished third. A consolation prize was awarded to Shivam Sehgal of St John’s School, Sector 26. Around 12 schools from the tricity participated in the contest. The aim of the event was to spread awareness regarding tobacco and its harmful effects. Santosh Bhan, Dr Renu Lamba and Dr Arjun Arya selected the winners. TNS

Interactive session held

Chandigarh: After conducting three back-to-back events, Think India, Chandigarh, conducted an interactive session on “Discussion on Farm Laws and Challenges Ahead” with an aim to talk, discuss and understand the objects and reasons behind them along with analysing the impact of the three farm laws on various sections of society. Advocate Sarthak Gupta, Punjab and Haryana High Court, and Kaushlesh Rai, founder, Hindu Café, were the main speakers. TNS

PUTA writes to engg wing

Mohali: The Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) has written to the Engineering Department of the campus for the maintenance of residential area ahead of monsoon. “The situation may get grim with the onset of monsoon. Earlier also, residents on the campus had a terrible time with choked sewers and leakage in roofs. The PUTA requests to screen sewerage in all residential areas on the campus and do the needful for the maintenance of roofs,” stated a PUTA official. TNS
