The Panchkula police arrested a man for raping a 13-year-old girl. Police officials said the victim’s mother, in her complaint, said that she and her husband worked as labourers and would usually go away for work while their minor daughter stayed home.
She claimed that while they used to be away, their neighbour would get close to their daughter, lure her to his room, and rape her. The family got suspicious of this and got her medically examined, during which she was found to be three months pregnant. On inquiry, the victim told her family that the accused had raped her several times and had also threatened to kill her.
The police arrested the man, who originally hails from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
