Taking decisive action against drug peddling, the UT police today froze movable and immovable assets worth Rs 3.69 crore linked to peddlers and their associates in three NDPS cases.

In 2023, the police arrested drug peddlers Mohammad Imtiyaz from Burail, Gagan, alias Gagan Chawla, from Ambala; and Sukhpreet Singh, alias Pardeep, from Mansa. A financial probe led to the identification of seven associates of the accused. The authorities froze Rs 90,000 of drug money, immovable properties worth Rs 4 lakh, movable assets valued at Rs 3.75 lakh, gold worth Rs 9.60 lakh and Rs 1.42 crore in bank accounts in the case.

In another case registered in April 2024 at the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) police station, five drug peddlers — Vikramjit Singh from Moga, Avneet from Mohali, and Lovepreet Singh, Krishan Singh and Nishan Singh from Ferozepur — were arrested. The investigation revealed that Vikramjit, Lovepreet and their associate Roopak Krishanbhai Chokshi from Sector 27, Chandigarh, had amassed illegal assets through drug trafficking. The police seized Rs 4.50 lakh in cash and froze movable properties worth Rs 35.93 lakh.
