Police nab three in Rs 1-cr Dera Bassi robbery case

The police have arrested three suspects in the Rs 1-crore robbery from a Dera Bassi realtor and have recovered Rs 68 lakh from them. The police have also impounded a luxury car from them.

The suspects have been identified as Ferozepur resident Ranjodh Singh Gill (33), Amritsar resident Maninderjit Singh (25) and Gohana resident Saurav Sharma (22).

Mohali SSP Vivek S Soni said, “Gill is already on five-day police remand, while Maninderjit Singh and Saurav Sharma will be produced in a court and their police remand sought. Investigations are on and more arrests are expected soon.”

The police recovered Rs 28 lakh from Gill’s house and Rs 40 lakh Maninderjit Singh’s house. A case under Sections 307, 397 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered at the Dera Bassi police station.

On June 10, four persons robbed a Dera Bassi property dealer Harjit Nagpal at gunpoint of Rs 1 crore at his office and injured a chasing fruit vendor with a gunshot in Dera Bassi around 11 am. Mohammed Shabbir (37), the vendor, received the gunshot injury on his head. The property dealer, a resident of Sadhunagar, said he was negotiating a property deal with one of the suspects for the past some time, but on that, he brought along three persons, who had a pistol with them, and snatched a bag containing money from his office.
