Police on toes after bomb shell found in Kaimbwala village
A bombshell found near scrap shops in Kaimbwala sent the police into a tizzy this afternoon.
Upon receiving the information at the Police Control Room, teams of the local police, bomb disposal squad and the Operation Cell rushed to the scene. They immediately cordoned off the area.
The bomb disposal squad covered the shell with sandbags and placed it inside an explosive-proof drum. The movement of public in the vicinity was restricted.
Senior officials, including UT SSP Kanwardeep Kaur, inspected the spot as police teams were taking precautionary measures.
A police official said the bomb disposal squad secured the area around the spot and the Army was called in for assistance.
The police have initiated an investigation at the Sector 3 police station. They said that local scrap dealers would be questioned. “It is possible that a scrap dealer found the shell and abandoned it here to avoid trouble,” an officer stated.
