Keeping in mind security and public order, the order prohibits the use of firecrackers within a 100-meter radius of silence ones, hospitals, schools, courts and religious places.

Furthermore, the manufacture, sale and use of firecrackers whose sound level exceeds the notified 125 dB (AI) or 145 dB (C) are completely restricted.

It will also be mandatory for every manufacturer to clearly label the chemical components of their products on the box and certify adherence to the standards set by the Department of Explosives. Any person who violates the order will face strict legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023.

Checkpoints to be set up across city

According to the DCP, all ACPs, SHOs and police post in-charges have been instructed to set up nakas (checkpoints) in their respective areas to inspect vehicles and suspicious individuals. Besides, patrolling has been increased in crowded markets, religious places, hotels, dhabas, restaurants, and dharamshalas (rest houses).

Gupta further clarified that strict action will be taken against persons consuming alcohol or intoxicants in any public place.

The general public has also been advised to immediately inform 112 or the nearest police station/ police post, if any unclaimed object or suspicious activity is noticed.

“All our efforts are aimed at ensuring the safety of the general public and a peaceful environment during the festivals. Adherence to rules and awareness is the responsibility of every individual,” the DCP added.
