Policy-making, public discourse in focus on concluding day of MUN

The 12th edition of the Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, Model United Nations (MUN) and Legislative Symposium concluded with a reflective closing ceremony at the school campus. The event brought together young minds from across the country to participate in rigorous debate, critical thinking and policy-driven dialogue.

Over the course of three days, delegates engaged in high-level discussions, drafted thoughtful resolutions, and demonstrated a keen understanding of international diplomacy and legal systems.

A curated closing video captured candid and impactful moments from the conference, celebrating the efforts and spirit of the student delegates. Awards for Special Mentions, High Commendations, and Best Delegates were also handed over to the standout participants across various committees.

The keynote address was delivered by Jyoti Malhotra, the first female Editor-in-Chief of the 143-year-old Tribune Group of Publications. Drawing on her four-decade career in media, Malhotra shared insights on journalism’s role in shaping public discourse, especially in a rapidly evolving global landscape. She encouraged the students to engage critically and ethically with the world and made them familiar with the “Wh-questions” formula—Who, What, Where, When, Why—as a guide for both reporting and responsible decision making. She guided the participating delegates to lead with empathy, authenticity, passion and integrity.

Reflecting on the experience, student delegate Ruddr Ahuja, who represented Argentina in the SOCHUM committee, said. “The MUN challenged me to think beyond headlines and really engage with global issues. I’ve learned to listen more, research better, and speak with purpose. It’s been a truly transformative experience.”

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by School Director, Atul Khanna.
