Post-GST cut, traders to display prices of items

City traders have decided to display the reduced rates of items post GST cut at their shops. The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM), a traders’ body, will provide them posters highlighting the GST rate cuts.

CBM president Sanjeev Chadha said the decision was taken during a meeting of the executive body today. He said it was decided that each trader would display the reduced rates of the items at his shop for the benefit and awareness of customers. The meeting was attended by chairman Charanjiv Singh, vice-chairman Diwakar Sahoonja and chief adviser Bhupinder Narad. The mandal appealed to the Central Government to simplify the procedure of filing returns as well.

Ajay Jagga, member, Administrator’s Advisory Council, has asked the UT Administrator to ensure that the benefits of GST 2.0 reached Chandigarh residents and “then and now” boards were displayed at shops. It will discourage unfair pricing, he added.
