Zirakpur, February 14
Residents of Baltana and nearby areas suffered power pangs for around 10 hours since early morning today. Locals said most of the Baltana remained powerless from 4 am to 4 pm as an supply was disrupted after an electricity pole alongside the Panchkula-Zirakpur road was damaged near Paras Downtown in an accident.
The repair work of electricity cables on the main road necessitated the closure of the road for a few hours, causing traffic snarls in the area.
Baltana resident Ranjit Saini said, “There was no electricity for the whole day. I think power supply was restored around 6 pm.”
Residents complained that such a long power cut drained the inverters and power banks completely. “Geysers, heaters, microwave oven, TV and other things remained switched off the whole day,” said Bala Salaria, a housewife.
Frequent power cuts are being witnessed in Lalru, Kharar and Zirakpur areas for the past few days.
