Chandigarh, August 19

In an effort to promote eco-friendly and sustainable products, the Municipal Corporation has set up a ‘Prarambh’ stall at the bustling Sector 15 market.

This initiative is part of the “Celebrating One Year of PRARAMBH; the One-Stop Store for Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Products, Empowering Communities in Line with RRR Principles” campaign and is also in preparation for the upcoming festivities.

It is to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier city under the Safai Apnao Bimaari Bhagao campaign. Products, include incense sticks and cones made from floral waste, handmade and intricately designed candles, captivating wall paintings, and traditional Janmashtami hampers.

MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra, highlighted the PRARAMBH initiative, launched a year ago, aims to raise awareness about sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives to commonly used products for daily use and during festivities. By opting for these products, individuals can actively contribute to waste reduction and support a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment.

The Commissioner further said during the financial year 2023-24, the MC’s initiative of providing a prime shop in Sector 17 and festive stalls at prominent locations across the city has given self-help groups (SHGs) a platform to showcase their talents and achieve financial independence.

Additionally, Prarambh stalls will be set up in various markets, including those in Sectors 15-22, 19, and 41 Krishna Market, until September 1, as part of the Safai Apnao Bimaari Bhagao Campaign. — TNS
