The UT Education Department has given a clean chit to Preeti Garg, Principal of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23 A, against whom a complaint was filed by the school management for her unprofessional behaviour towards students and teachers.
Was trying to enforce discipline, finds report
- As per the inquiry report, the committee is of the view that Preeti Garg, Principal of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23-A, was trying to create discipline and was misunderstood and misinterpreted. “She may be loud to convey to her staff members, but it seems her intentions were not bad”
noted the report.
The committee constituted for an inquiry has suggested that the Education Department should devise or formulate transfer policy to crack the whip on monopoly problems in schools.
“In many schools teachers are in the same school for many years. They have created a monopoly in schools and sometimes problems are due to this only. Committee is of the view that the Department of School Education, Chandigarh Administration may devise/formulate some transfer policy in which after a certain period teachers is transferred,” read the inquiry report.
As per the inquiry the report, the committee is of the view that the head of the institution was trying to create discipline and was misunderstood and misinterpreted. “She may be loud to convey to her staff members but it seems her intentions were not bad” noted the report.
The report stated that nowhere has any staff member mentioned about her favouritism to any staff or student. It further stated that statements of students recorded against her were only of the subjects where there are practical’s, which ‘conveys many unsaid things’.
The principal was accused of transferring advance money of worth Rs 41,000 sanctioned for conducting CBSE Examination 2019 to her personal account. “The fund flow in her personal account is not an exception but is the same for all institutions where that exam was held. This is a misinterpretation by the staff members,’ said the report.
Soon after her complaint, Garg was transferred to GMSSS Khuda Lohara against a vacant post. On November 22, Garg was transferred back to GMSSS 23 A with a caution that she would handle her personnel tactfully, while an inquiry against her was pending.
The committee has now advised Garg to be a good team leader and take staff along in decision making in day to day working of the school.
