Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL), which recently took over the city’s electricity distribution and retail supply, has streamlined the process of installing new meters. What once took several days is now completed within 72 hours of the payment, in most cases.

Apply, pay online

Consumers can apply for a new power meter with just a few clicks. They can visit CPDL website www.chandigarhpower.com, to fill in an application form and pay the required fee digitally.

Earlier, applicants were often required to purchase own electricity meter and service cable due to equipment shortages. Later, they had to submit the meter to the Electricity Department for mandatory testing, a process that frequently led to delays.

“Now, we ensure that the electricity meter and service cable are provided by the CPDL. This eliminates unnecessary delays and makes the entire process seamless and convenient,” said CPDL director Arun Kumar Verma.
