The police’s Anti-Immigration Fraud Unit has arrested a fraudulent agent who deceived a man by promising help in sending him to the United States.

The complainant, Dilraj Singh, a resident of Tehsil Barwala, had told the police that the accused duped him on pretext of facilitating his travel. He initially sent him to Thailand on October 13, 2023, before moving him to Kazakhstan, Turkey, Russia and eventually Dubai. After being stranded in Dubai, he was called back to India.

The accused then proposed sending him to Canada and continued to mislead him.

The investigation revealed the involvement of four individuals in the fraud. One of them has been identified as Lokesh Jat, a resident of Sherpur village in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Acting on a tip-off, ASI Deepak Kumar, under the supervision of unit in-charge Tajinder Pal Singh, arrested Lokesh from Noida.

The accused was produced in court and remanded to police custody. During the period, police successfully recovered Rs 5 lakh from the accused. Further probe in the case is underway.
