Chandigarh, December 17

The UT police have submitted a supplementary chargesheet in the alleged property grab case of Sector 37, Chandigarh, before a local court.

In the supplementary chargesheet, the police claimed that Central Forensic Scientific Laboratory (CFSL) reports have confirmed that the documents submitted in the Estate Office regarding the transfer of a house in Sector 37 were signed by the accused.

The police have attached the CFSL reports in the supplementary chargesheet. Public prosecutor Ashok Rohila filed the supplementary challan before the court.

The police had sent the documents submitted in the Estate Office, hand writing of the accused and bank and property papers related with the alleged property grab case to the CFSL to check their authenticity. The police claim that all CFSL reports had further confirmed the prosecution case.

The police had registered the case against nine accused, including Sanjeev Mahajan, Manish Gupta, Satpal Dagar, inspector Rajdeep Singh, Arvind Singla, Khalendra Singh Kadyan, Gurpreet Singh and Saurabh Gupta, in March 2021.

It was alleged in the FIR that the accused grabbed the house of Rahul Mehta. As per the FIR, some of the accused first entered his house forcefully and took the possession of the first floor in March 2017.

The accused allegedly took his signatures on papers after torturing him. They later abandoned him in Gujarat.

The case has been registered against the accused for the offences committed under Sections 328, 331, 344, 365, 386, 419, 420, 452, 464, 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 473, 474, 477, 166, 201 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 13(1) and (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The police claimed the CFSL reports confirmed that the sign of Rahul Mehta was also forged in the GPA of the house.

The police filed the supplementary chargesheet six months after submission of the main chargesheet. — TNS
