Vyas Chawla, one of the prosecution witnesses in the alleged property grab case, identified Gurpreet Singh in the court today who was allegedly presented as Rahul Mehta at the Sub-Registrar’s office in Chandigarh by the accused on March 1, 2019, for getting the GPA of the controversial Sector 37 house cancelled.

Chawla was examined today by the special public prosecutor, Manu Kakkar. On a specific question by Kakkar, Chawla identified Gurpreet Singh who was brought in the court along with the other accused of the case, by saying that Gurpreet was standing at the Sub-registrar’s office during the cancellation of the GPA. Chawla also identified his signature and the photograph taken at the time of the cancellation of the GPA.

The police registered the FIR against accused Sanjeev Mahajan, Manish Gupta, Satpal Dagar, inspector Rajdeep Singh, Arvind Singla, Khalendra Singh Kadyan, Gurpreet Singh, Ashok Arora and Saurabh Gupta last year in the alleged property grab case after investigation.

According to the chargesheet, the accused forcibly entered the house of Rahul Mehta and took possession of the first floor. They allegedly took signatures of Mehta on papers after allegedly torturing him.

The police have also alleged in the chargesheet that a GPA of house number 340 in Sector 37 was first executed in 2017. The other accused took Gurpreet Singh to the Sub-Registrar’s office on March 1, 2019, and allegedly presented him as Rahul Mehta and got the GPA cancelled.
