Chandigarh, June 8
More than 50 research scholars gathered in front of the Panjab University Vice-Chancellor’s office for submitting a memorandum on opening libraries and allowing students to stay in hostels.
“How does it matter if scholars are doing their PhD from the PU and the guide belongs to some other institution? There’s no logic on denying hostel accommodations on this basis,” read a statement by the SFS.
“Associate DSW Ashok Kumar and wardens came to listen us. They agreed that decision should be revisited. Authorities agreed to fulfil students’ demands in two days. They also agreed to open ground in the mornings and evenings,” read the statement.
