On a call to observe a ‘sampoorna kranti diwas’ (day of total revolution), farmers burnt copies of agro-market laws outside the house of BJP leader Sanjay Tandon here.

Members of the Naujawan Kisan Ekta and civil society gathered at the market opposite the church of Sector 18. They marched towards the house of BJP leader Sanjay Tandon, which was heavily guarded by the police. The protesters stopped at the barricades barely 20 feet from his house.

Ketan Bansal, SP City, said: “We have deployed 170 persons here to keep the situation under control and to stop the crowd from entering the house.”

Protester Prateek Maan of the Naujawan Kisan Ekta said: “We just wanted to burn the copies of these draconian laws outside the house of Sanjay Tandon, not inside his house. We would have gone to Kirron Kher’s house too, but she’s unwell and we don’t want to disturb her.” The gathering burnt the copies of the laws outside Tandon’s house and raised slogans against the BJP for passing the bills without consulting the farmers and stakeholders.
