The Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of The Tribune report ‘Youth electrocuted at Sec 8 transformer’.

The commission’s Chairperson Justice Sant Parkash, while taking suo-motu cognisance of the matter, has called for a report from the Superintending Engineer, Electricity, Chandigarh, and UT SSP before the next date of hearing.

Victim Mayank (17) had got electrocuted on Wednesday evening. He had left a gym in Sector 8 and was crossing the railings next to the transformer when he came in contact with it and got electrocuted. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

He was the son of the Deputy Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) here.
