PSPCL meets highest power demand

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) chairman-cum-managing editor (CMD) A Venu Prasad said despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the PSPCL has met the highest-ever power demand for 3,018 lakh units on Thursday. Last year, it was recorded 2,999 lakh units.

The CMD said the PSPCL had been providing daily eight-hour electricity supply to its agriculture consumers in Punjab since June 10. He said it was also providing 24-hour power supply to all other categories of consumers in the state.

Venu Prasad said all thermal (1616 MW) and hydel (850 MW) units of the PSPCL and the IPPs (3654 MW) within the state had been pressed into service and were running to their full capacity to meet the demand for 13,144 MW of the state.
