Prof BL Dubey, Adjunct Faculty, University of Alaska, USA, and president, Somatic Inkblot Society, conducted the workshop that was organised from the perspective of familiarising the students with the administration, scoring and interpretation of this projective technique. Emphasis was laid not only on the objective but also on the subjective and skill-based elements of the technique. TNS
65 units of blood donated
Chandigarh: A five-member Canadian delegation, led by Sardar Kundan Singh Sajjan, visited Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26. They inaugurated the blood donation camp organised by the NSS unit of the college, in collaboration with the Blood Transfusion Department, PGI. Sardar Kundan Singh Sajjan, Head Sevadar, Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Surrey, and Khalsa Diwan Society, Vancouver, Canada, father of Harjit Singh Sajjan, Defence Minister, Canada, was honoured by the college management and the sikh educational society. Sajjan appreciated the work of a teacher as a ‘seva’ to humanity. As many as 65 units of blood were donated by students and faculty members of the college. TNS
Lecture on Covid-19
Chandigarh: An awareness lecture on COVID-19 was organised at the Government College of Education, Chandigarh. During the lecture, Deepti Raina, child specialist, GRIID, explained about Covid, its symptoms and prevention tips. She said the virus was spreading person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. TNS
Self-defence training
Chandigarh: Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, in association with the National Integrated Medical Association, Chandigarh chapter, and Cyeclgiri celebrated International Women’s Day here on Sunday. Asha Jaswal, former Mayor of Chandigarh, and DSP Jaswinder Singh were among the guests. Celebrations kicked off with members of the Cycelgiri team paddling their way to the Chandigarh Lake Club. This was followed by a special self-defence training session for all participants. Specialists briefed women with live demonstrations on how to deal with eve-teasing and shared tips on travelling alone for longer distances. TNS
Event on social transformation
Chandigarh: Fifty eight women pledged to their lives to the Brahmakumaris at an event held to mark the International Women’s Day here on Sunday. The women were from Punjab, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The theme of the event was ‘Empowerment of Women for Social Transformation’. Rajyogini Chakradhari Didi, chairperson of the women wing of the organisation, said: “The real change that is needed is inside every individual”. The guests on the occasion were Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Rajan Gupta, Chandigarh Mayor Raj Bala Malik, Major General MS Kandal and BJP leader Sanjay Tandon. TNS
Man dupes people, booked
Zirakpur: The police have arrested a person for cheating gullible persons on the pretext on sending them abroad. The suspect has been identified as Mandeep Singh, who runs an immigration firm. The cops said Mandeep was running an immigration office at Zirakpur without any licence. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Immigration Act at Zirakpur police station. OC
3 booked for abducting girl
Ambala: A minor girl was abducted on the pretext of marriage. According to official information, a woman of Narainagarh, had reported to the police that Gaurav, Manga and a woman had abducted her minor daughter on the pretext of marriage on March 7. The police have booked the trio for abduction. TNS
2 drug peddlers nabbed in Ambala
Ambala: The police have arrested two persons, including Ravinder, a resident of Yamunanagar, and Pravesh Dhar of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, for supplying intoxicants. According to police, the arrests were made on the confessional statement of a suspect who was arrested with intoxicants in Panjokhra Sahib on the intervening night of February 5 and 6. The suspect had told the police that he had purchased the contraband from these persons. The duo will be produced before a court on Tuesday. TNS
Two proclaimed offenders held
Ambala: The police have arrested two proclaimed offenders – Vikas alias Vicky, of Kaithal, and Deepak of Mandi, in Himachal Pradesh, who were wanted in separate criminal cases. According to police, both accused were evading their arrests ever since they were booked by the police at Naggal and Baldev Nagar police stations following which they were declared proclaimed offenders. The duo will be produced before the courts on Tuesday. TNS
21-year-old girl goes missing
Ambala: A 21-year-old girl had reportedly gone missing from her place in Barara, the police said on Monday. According to information, Subhash, a resident of Barara had reported to the police that his young daughter had left home on March 7, but did not return to date. The police have lodged a missing person’s report and launched a manhunt to trace the missing girl. TNS
