PU to collaborate with Canadian varsity on dual degree programmes

Panjab University (PU) and the University of Fraser Valley (UFV), Canada, have reached a preliminary agreement to initiate joint and dual degree programmes.

The discussions were finalised during a visit by a UFV delegation to Panjab University, led by Peter Geller, Director of Transnational Education, alongside Daryl Smith, Director of International, and Tushar Gajwani, Assistant Director.

The delegation met with PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Renu Vig, Prof Yojna Rawat (Director, Research & Development), Prof Sanjeev Sharma (Director, IQAC), and Prof Kewal Krishan (Dean of International Students). The meeting explored potential collaborative programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, particularly in business management.

The discussions also focused on leveraging Panjab University’s experience with existing dual degree programmes with Nottingham Trent University, UK, and Yokohama National University, Japan.

During the meeting, Prof Sanjeev Sharma made a presentation highlighting PU’s academic achievements and institutional strengths. Prof Kewal Krishan opened the discussions by welcoming the delegation and outlining the collaborative opportunities.

The UFV delegation assured Panjab University of a detailed draft proposal for the dual degree programme within a week. Vice-Chancellor Renu Vig emphasised the significance of these programmes in enhancing global exposure and employment opportunities for Indian students.
