The one-way traffic system will apply to both four-wheelers and two-wheelers on stretches from the Arts Block to the Law Department and from the Chemistry Department to the Zoology Department roundabout.

On both these roads, the vehicular movement will be permitted only from South to North direction — Arts Block to Law Department and Chemistry to Zoology Department direction.

A PU spokesperson said the move was aimed at better traffic management, reducing congestion and promoting healthy habits like walking and cycling among students and staff, wherever feasible.

The university will monitor the impact of the trial and accordingly make improvements, if necessary. The members of the traffic and security management committee had discussed the matter on May 7 and approved the trial of one-way traffic movement considering traffic congestion on some roads.
