Public outreach in focus as Panchkula civic body launches cleanliness drive

Looking to transform the city into a model of cleanliness, the Municipal Corporation (MC) today rolled out a new campaign titled “Every Neighbourhood, Every Street, Every Home – The Identity of Clean Haryana.” The drive aims to raise awareness among citizens about sanitation and encourage them to play an active role in keeping their surroundings clean.

Municipal Commissioner RK Singh said while the corporation is committed to improving sanitation, the cooperation of residents was vital. The campaign seeks to instil a sense of responsibility among people to maintain cleanliness in their homes, streets and neighbourhoods.

As part of the initiative, the civic body has introduced a dedicated helpline number – 9696494949 – where residents can register complaints or send suggestions via call, WhatsApp, or chat. Officials believe the step will improve communication between citizens and the administration, ensuring quicker redressal of grievances.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Apoorv Chaudhary added that regular cleanliness drives are already underway in the city. He urged citizens to dispose of waste responsibly, segregating wet and dry waste to strengthen the city’s sanitation system. He called upon residents to treat the campaign as a shared responsibility, helping to achieve the goal of a clean and green Panchkula.

Humane approach TO tackle stray dogs

In a significant step towards better animal welfare and public safety, Municipal Commissioner RK Singh convened a meeting with  Animal Husbandry Department officers, councillors and local NGO representatives. The focus was on making Panchkula a “Puppy-Free Zone” by controlling the births in a systematic and humane manner. The initiative seeks to create a cleaner, safer and more compassionate environment for both residents and animals.
