PUissues guidelines for semester exams

Panjab University (PU) today issued a revised set of guidelines for conducting semester examinations, which are likely to be held in July.

The guidelines have been uploaded at the university’s portal along with reference sample paper, which categorically mentions the questions to be attempted and other details.

Prof RK Singla, Dean University Instructions (DUI), the authorities are working to conduct examinations with minimum movement of students. “Semester exams for undergraduate and postgraduate (last batches) will be held in the first phase. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) in this regard have been issued and uploaded on the website,” said Prof Singla.

Entrance exam from July 27

The Dean University Instructions informed that students of final semester are advised to prepare for examination. “A set of revised general guidelines for semester examinations (July 2020) have been uploaded on the university’s website. The PU-CET (PG) will be conducted on July 27 and July 28,” he said.

Prof Singla said, “Details of other entrance examinations are available on the portal. Parents and students are advised to follow the guidelines with regard to examination and admissions. One must remain vigilant as some mischievous elements are spreading fake news.”

Question papers to have more options for students

Prof Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, informed that the pattern of paper has been changed. Students will get more options as the entire syllabus was not completed. “There will be no unit in question paper and all questions will carry equal marks,” he said.

As per new guidelines, each exam will be held for two hours. For BA, BSc, BCom, BCA and other undergraduate courses, professional courses (law, MCom, MBA, engineering, hotel management, BFA/MFA, home science, library science, pharmacy) and postgraduate courses (MA, MSc, MCom), only four questions are to be attempted, including compulsory questions. For Hindi elective (BA), any three questions out of first four questions (question number 5th and 6th will be compulsory) are to be attempted. — TNS
