Punjab Agriculture Minister to hoist Tricolour on I-Day in Mohali

Punjab Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian will be the chief guest for the Independence Day celebrations at the Shaheed (Shaurya Chakra) Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College, Phase 6.

The final rehearsal for the event will be held on August 13.

The celebrations will feature tableaux showcasing the state’s flagship programmes and welfare schemes, along with a march past and cultural activities. Students from Mohali and its neighbouring areas will take part in the march past.

Students from the School of Eminence, Phase 3B1 (Government Primary School), meanwhile, will recite the National Anthem to conclude the celebrations.

DSP Jatinder Singh Chauhan, DSP PBI/Homicide, Mohali, will lead the parade, which will include contingents from the Punjab Police (male and female wings), NCC cadets and school bands.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Komal Mittal today reviewed the first day of Independence Day preparation rehearsals. Applauding the performances, the DC encouraged them to present the cultural programme in a manner that reflects national pride, promotes harmony and peace, and conveys the message of unity and integrity.

Later, chairing a detailed meeting with various departments involved in the celebrations, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparations.
