Punjab defeated Delhi by nine wickets during the T10 Interstate Wheelchair Cricket Tournament at Government Senior Secondary School in Sector 26 here today.

The Delhi team scored 101 runs at the loss of eight wickets in 10 overs. Punjab achieved the target in 9.1 overs. The team scored 105 runs at the loss of one wicket. Ranjit from Punjab scored 37, while Prashant from the losing team remained unbeaten on 50. Rajan from Punjab, who claimed three wickets, was adjudged man of the match.

In another match, the local team defeated Rajasthan by 10 wickets. Rajasthan scored 89 runs at the loss of three wickets. In reply, Chandigarh scored 95 runs without loss. Bharat Panwar (24) from Rajasthan and Sukhwant (45) from Chandigarh were the top scorers.

In the third league match, Delhi defeated Chandigarh by six wickets. Chandigarh scored 125 runs at the loss of eight wickets, and Delhi made 126 runs at the loss of four wickets. Veer Singh Sandhu from Chandigarh made 53 runs, and Sonu Gupta from Delhi posted 60. Saurabh Malik from Delhi and Sandeep Kundu from Chandigarh took two wickets each. Delhi’s Sonu Gupta was named man of the match.

Punjab won another tie by recording a seven-wicket victory over Rajasthan. Rajasthan had posted 106 runs while losing three wickets. Punjab achieved the target in nine overs. They posted 110/3. Vishvendra from Rajasthan made 45 runs while Rohit Anothra from Punjab remained unbeaten on 73. Rohit was declared man of the match.

The tournament is being organised by the Women and Child Care Welfare Foundation in collaboration with the Institute of Development and Communication, Chandigarh, and Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Mohali

Nearly 125 special children watched wheelchair cricketers in action.

The spectators were from GRIID, Sector 31, Pingalwara, Sector 55, Umeed Asha Kiran Air Force Station, Sector 31, Chandigarh, Sadhna Vocational Training Institute, Mani Majra, Asha Kiran, Sector 46, and Snehalaya, Maloya.

Earlier, newly elected Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla inaugurated the tournament. She said, “These players are an inspiration to all of us, proving that determination and passion have no barriers.”
