Punjab set to begin Buchi Babu cricket tourney campaign

After a gap of almost 13 years, the men’s senior team of Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) will participate in the All India Buchi Babu Invitational Cricket Tournament 2025. Hosted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), the tournament kicked off today. The side will play their opening game on August 19.

“The PCA views this as a valuable opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Red Ball cricket season, especially the Ranji Trophy. This initiative reflects PCA’s renewed focus on strengthening its performance in the traditional format of the game,” said a PCA spokesperson.

The practice camp held at PCA Stadium, Mohali, started from August 10, and concluded on 14, under the guidance of PCA coaches including, head coach Sandeep Sharma, assistant Coaches Uday Kaul and Gagandeep Singh Toor and fielding coach Sandeep Sawal.

The squad, which will be captained by Anmolpreet Singh, includes Uday Pratap Saharan, Salil Arora, Aradhya Shukla, Raghu Shivam Sharma, Pukhraj Mann, Harnoor Singh Pannu, Ramandeep Singh, Jass Inder Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Krish Bhagat, Anmol Malhotra and Gurnoor Singh Brar.

“The PCA remains committed to developing high-quality cricket talent and believes this exposure to red-ball competition will significantly benefit our players ahead of the domestic season,” said PCA joint secretary Siddhant Sharma.
