Punjab’s Tamanna Saini recorded a 4-0 win over Vinita Negi of Uttarakhand to march into the women’s singles’ semifinals during the opening day of the North Zone Table Tennis Tournament of Indian Audit and Accounts Department organised by the Principal Accountant General (Audit) Haryana at the Sector 23 TT Hall.

In other quarterfinals, Delhi’s Gladlyn Flora defeated Sanya Sehgal, Anjali Rohilla ousted Haryana’s Kalyani and Suhana Narjinary defeated Vidushi Joshi of Himachal Pradesh by identical scores of 4-0 each. Earlier, in the qualifying round, Vinita Negi recorded a 3-1 win over Haryana’s Shikha, Delhi’s Gladlyn Flora defeated Sanjana of Uttarakhand 3-1, while Sanya Sehagal defeated Priya Singh and Anjali Rohilla outplayed Ruchi Kalia by identical scores of 3-0 each.

In the semifinals of the men’s singles veteran 40 category, Amit Srivastva defeated Vikash Sharma 3-2 and Sunil Ahuja ousted Mushtaq Bhatt 3-0. In the 50 year semis, Delhi’s Sham Kumar defeated Jaswant Gagta 3-1 and Joginder Singh outplayed Virendra Srivastva 3-0.

Meanwhile, Audit General (AG) Delhi stormed into the team category final by defeating AF Haryana 3-0. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, AG Haryana defeated AG Jammu & Kashmir 3-0 and AG Uttarakhand blanked AG Uttar Pradesh 3-0. AG Punjab also recorded an identical 3-2 win over AG Himachal Pradesh.
