A district court here adjourned pronouncement of quantum of punishment in a New Year night murder case to November 30. Deepak Kumar (22), a resident of Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, was stabbed to death behind Hotel Cove, Sector 5, Panchkula, on the intervening night of December 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017.
On November 23, the court had held Mohd Arif and Virender guilty under Sections 304 and 307 of the IPC, while acquitted five others, including Nishant, Mohd Ijhar, Mohd Ajmal, Osaf Ahmad and Rajan.
Defence counsel Amit Sharma said an altercation had taken place between the two groups over parking, which resulted in Deepak’s death. He said another youth had also got injured in the fight.
