Radha beats Akshdha, marches into quarters

Top seed Radha registered a 4-1 4-2 win over Akshdha Sharma in the girls’ U-14 pre-quarterfinals in the Roots-AITA Talent Series (TS7) National Ranking Championship at Zirakpur today.

Second seed Gurmannat Kaur drubbed Inaayat 4-1 4-1, while third seed Sidhak Kaur humbled Ivleen Kaur 4-2 4-1. Gurbaaz Toor edged out Ekam Kaur 4-0 4-2 in the pre-quarterfinals.

Isheeta Midha blanked Poonam 4-0 4-0. Akshita Vashisht prevailed 4-2 4-2 over Kanishka Vashist and Shrawasti Kundilya thrashed Antara Panwar 4-0 4-0 to seal a spot in the quarterfinals.

Bhumika advances

In the girls’ U-16 pre-quarterfinals, second seed Bhumika Gupta ousted Akshita Vashist 4-0 4-1, while Sidhak rallied from a set down to upset third seed Anusha Verma 0-4 5-4(3) (10-3).

Akshdha Sharma survived 2-4 4-0 (10-2) against Mehakpreet Kaur. Kashvi Singla registered a 4-2 4-2 win over Poonam, while Isheeta Midha dumped Tanisha 4-0 4-0. Radha downed Khushleen 4-1 4-2 and Gurmannat Kaur trounced Ivleen 4-2 4-2 in the pre-quarters.

Gundeep moves ahead

Gundeep Singh beat Aditya Bhatnagar 5-4(2) 5-4(3) to move into the boys’ U-16 pre-quarterfinals. Sabyasachi faced registered a 4-1 1-4(10-6) win over Shivam Wadhawan. — TNS
