The day-time temperature at some parts in the region had crossed 42 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which along with the high humidity had made the living conditions tough for the people, especially those moving out of their homes.

The downpour caused waterlogging at several roundabouts and roads in Chandigarh and its periphery areas leading to traffic snarls.

Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab recorded 41.4 degrees, 41.6 degrees and 41.3 degrees Celsius, respectively on Thursday.

While, Chandigarh, registered a high of 42.2 degrees Celsius.
