Ram temple consecration: Festivities begin in Chandigarh with kalash yatra
Chandigarh, January 15
Ahead of the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya, devotees launched weeklong celebrations in the city on Monday. With a band from Delhi comprising 101 performers, a “kalash yatra” was held. The yatra was led by horses, camels, a band and a tableau of Lord Shiva.
Starting from Sector 23 Sanatan Dharam Mandir, the procession passed through Sectors 22, 21, 20 and reached Sector 34. Devotees had arranged langar all along the yatra route. This was followed by a bhajan evening by devotional singer Kanhaiya Mittal.
Jagmohan Garg, Pradeep Bansal, Mayor Anup Gupta, Navraj Mittal and other organisers from Shri Ram Kripa Trust said city residents were participating in the celebrations whole-heartedly. From 3 pm to 6 pm for the next two days, there will be a Ram katha by poet Kumar Vishwas. The symbolic representation of Ram temple has become an attraction for devotees.
