Ranji Trophy: Karnataka’s Manish Pandey slams ton against Chandigarh

Manish Pandey came up with an unbeaten ton to help hosts Karnataka reply strongly to Chandigarh on the Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy match at KSCA Stadium.

In reply to Chandigarh’s 267, the hosts posted 268 runs at the loss of three wickets when the stumps were drawn. Pandey scored an unbeaten 102 off 101 deliveries. He hit 14 boundaries and three sixes.

With Hardik Raj, he was also involved in an unbeaten 153-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Raj posted unbeaten 49 off 116 balls, with four boundaries.

Karnataka openers Samarth R and Mayank Agarwal couldn’t give a strong start to the team. Samarth (4) was the first to go after getting caught by Mayank Sidhu off Jagjit Singh Sandhu. SJ Nikin Jose then joined Agarwal and the duo played calmly to raise a 70-run partnership. Jose was playing at 37 when he was caught by Sidhu off Hartejassvi.

Thereafter, Raj joined the skipper and the duo gathered 32 runs before Agarwal (57 off 90 balls, with nine boundaries and one six) was trapped in front by Karan Kaila. Thereafter, Raj and Pandey controlled the innings to help Karnataka gain a commanding position.

Earlier, resuming their innings from 219/6, Chandigarh were bundled out at 267. Sidhu (31) and Sandhu (25) remained the main contributors for the side, as Raj (4/56) and V Vyshak (4/77) claimed a majority of wickets for the bowling side.
