Rawat races to gold, silver for Subhash

BS Rawat clocked 16.59s to win the 100m gold in the men’s 80+ age group on the concluding day of the All India Masters Athletics Championship at Tau Devi Lal Stadium here today. He was followed by Subhash (16.61s) and Chhaju Ram (18.13s) in second and third places, respectively.

  • Veteran athlete Capt GS Sidhu (retd) won his 17th National gold medal when he topped the podium in the +70 years shot put competition in the All Indian Veterans Athletics Championship at Tau Devi Lal Stadium.

Telangana’s S Rajamallaiah (36.83s) topped the podium in the men’s 95+ category, while Raghuvir (19.58s) led the men’s 90+ age group.

Amrik Singh (20.32s), Om Parkash (23.81s) and Mohan Singh (23.85s) won the top-three positions, respectively, in the men’s 85+ competition.

Sawat Ram (16.72s) bagged the gold medal in the 75+ category. RS Sandhu (17.33s) won the silver, while Hari Singh (17.75s) returned with the bronze medal. In the men’s 70+ age group, Ram Kishore covered 100m in 15.19s to claim the gold medal. Mukhtiar Singh (15.43s) clinched the silver and MRP Babu (15.55s) won the bronze.

Shaji (13.80s) dominated the field in the men’s 65+ age group. He was followed by Islam Khan (14.83s) in second place, while RS Bhullar (15.07s) occupied the third spot.

In the men’s 60+ category, Sukhwinder Singh (13.09s) won the gold medal and while Bhim Singh (13.40s) got the silver. Jeet Singh (13.58s) had to be content with the bronze medal.

Om Parkash shines

In the men’s 10,000m run, Om Parkash of Himachal Pradesh clocked 52:17.05s to lead the 70+ age group. Jai Singh Malik (54:09.57s) bagged the second position, while MS Khan (55:01.46s) finished third.

Amar Singh (45:59.50s), Mathew N (50:29.50s) and Daya Nand (52:15.87s) won the top-three positions, respectively, in the men’s 65+ category. Satbir Singh (45:23.94s) won the gold medal in the men’s 55+ age group. Santosh Kumar (46:12.02s) and Balwinder Singh (50:22.49s) followed in second and third places, respectively.

In the men’s 50+ category, Surendra Pratap recorded a timing of 41:03.07s to claim the gold medal. Dileep T (42:04.48s) pocketed the silver, while Rakesh Thakur (42:05.91s) bagged the bronze medal.

Ram Raj clocked 38:08.88s to lead the field in the men’s 45+ age group. Sasti Charan (40:17.43s) followed in second place and Biju PS (41:06.66s) bagged the third position.

In the men’s 40+ category, Ravinder Kumar (38:49.70s) won the gold medal, while Reyaz Ahmed Dar (39:12.72s) claimed the silver. Raju AA (40:57.52s) took home the bronze medal.

Mangat Kumar (37:06.20s), Sukh Ram (39:35.52s) and Devinder Singh (40:42.94s) won the top-three positions, respectively, in the men’s 35+ category.

Vijaya’s golden run

In women’s 10,000 run, V Vijaya led the field in the 55+ age group with a timing of 1:11.56s. Vijay Negi (1:13.59s) finished second.

TL Snehalatha (1:11:59.88s) claimed the gold medal in the women’s 50+ competition.

In the women’s 45+ age group, Sona Yadav (56:04.01s) bagged the gold medal, while M Poonam (56:20.64s) won the silver. Sunita Malik (56:35.92s) claimed the bronze medal.

Vara Aarti Raje (1:12.03s) topped the podium in the women’s 40+ age group. Chauhan Premila (58:18.40s) and Parveen Kaur (1:02:25.90s) followed in second and third places, respectively.

Malla on top

In the men’s hammer throw, C Malla Reddy claimed the gold medal in the 90+ age group with a throw of 17.08m.

Ibobal Singh (21.38m), Gurjiwan Singh (20.78m) and Devi Deyal (15.61m) claimed the top-three positions, respectively, in the men’s 85+ age group.

In the men’s 80+ contest, Ahlawat (19.48m) took home the gold medal, while B Muniraj (18.51m) won the silver. B Samuel (17.92m) bagged the bronze medal.

Biren Singh (30.47m) dominated the field in the 75+ age group. He was followed by Sukhdev Singh (24.91m) and RS Sandhu (24.58m) in second and third places, respectively.

In the women’s hammer throw, Y Koteswaramma (20.16m) won the gold medal in the 70+ category. M Dhana Lakshmi (13.20m) claimed the silver, while K Nirmala (10.04m) bagged the bronze medal.

In the women’s 65+ age group, M Tarubi Devi (16.80m) pocketed the gold medal. Raj Bajwa (16.73m) won the silver and A Bharathi (15.62m) got the bronze medal.
