The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is all set to commence the recarpeting of roads across the city as the civic body has successfully received bids for all 11 tenders floated for the project. These tenders cover V-4, V-5, V-6 roads and parking areas, ensuring comprehensive coverage across sectors and localities.

Sharing the update today, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said that the estimated cost of the tenders was approximately Rs 40 crore and the bidding process had attracted competitive responses from various firms.

She added that the MC had received bids for all 11 tenders, which is a significant step forward in the plan to improve road infrastructure throughout Chandigarh. After completing the technical evaluation and opening of financial bids, the tenders will be awarded to the L-1 (lowest) bidders as per the official procedure.

The Mayor emphasised that priority would be given to roads in dilapidated conditions, which would be recarpeted first to ensure public safety and convenience.

The recarpeting project is part of MC’s larger commitment to enhancing urban mobility, improving civic infrastructure and ensuring smoother road surfaces for residents and commuters, she added.
