Registry offices witness heavy influx on final day of no-objection certificate relaxation

Heavy footfall was witnessed at the Sub-Registrars, Joint Sub-Registrars and Sub-Tehsils offices of Dera Bassi, Zirakpur, Mohali and Kharar this morning as February 28 was the last date to avail registries without a no-objection certificate (NOC).

The Punjab government, however, has extended the deadline for till August 31.

Earlier in the day, long queues of buyers, sellers and witnesses were seen outside the offices of revenue department.

At Zirakpur, there was heavy rush both inside and outside the MC office. The road leading to the civic body office remained chock a block for whole day with area residents facing a tough time.

Around 300 registries are being processed daily in Zirakpur and Dera Bassi for the past two days against the stipulated 150 slots on routine days.

For the past two days, heavy rush was witnessed at offices event till late into the night.

According to the government notification, any person who up to July 31, 2024, for an area up to 500 square yards situated in an unauthorised colony, has entered into a power of attorney or agreement to sell or have any registered document with respect to the title of land, shall be entitled to get registration of such plot executed.
