The CHB Residents’ Welfare Federation held a protest in front of Prachin Shiv Mandir, Ram Darbar, Phase 2, today.

A large number of residents from all CHB colonies and sectors participated in the protest. A rally was also held which was addressed by leaders from all political parties. Bharat Kumar, area councillor, said most CHB residents belonged to lower middle class. As neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana have already regularised illegal colonies without punitive measures, the residents of the city should also get the benefit on the pattern of the neighboring states.

An appeal was made to the local MP and the Administrator to resolve the issue of need-based changes by following the precedent set by the Vijay Kumar Malhotra committee in Delhi: people need to be helped out of a difficult situation by their own political representatives and by their own government, rather than getting punished by

the authority.

The rally was also attended by Mayor Raj Bala Malik and other councilors, including Anil Dubey, Dalip Sharma, Kanwar Rana, Shipra Bansal, and ex-councillor S Ram Lal. Subeena Bansal, CHB member, was also present.

All of them expressed sympathy with the problem faced by the CHB residents and promised that they would work to form a committee to get one-time-settlement for the affected CHB residents.
