Mohali, June 4
Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan today conducted a surprise check at Fortis Hospital here.
After seeing a large number of patients waiting in the OPD, the Deputy Commissioner directed the hospital authorities to regulate inflow of patients through a token system. “Barring emergency, the entire inflow of patients must be controlled via token system,” he said.
He suggested to propagate appointment system so that patients visit the hospital only during the given time slot. “The message should be conveyed that only one attendant should accompany a patient,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioners said as patients with comorbid conditions visit the hospitals, any lapse in adhering to protocols advised in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, especially not wearing mask or not maintaining social distancing can wreak havoc.
Dayalan said overall hygiene and sanitation was found satisfactory with due thermal screening at the hospital. However, some people were seen without mask and challaned on the spot.
The parking was found haphazard and the Superintendent of Police asked the parking contractor to regulate pick-up and drop-off zone.
Five teams under senior officers, including Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aashika Jain, under training IAS Officer Manisha Rana, Assistant Commissioner (General) Yashpal Sharma, SDM Jagdeep Sehgal, Tehsildar and Naib Tehsiladar, conducted surprise checks at Max Hospital, Phase 4 market and Sewa Kendras. Those found without mask were challaned.
