Haryana Speaker Gian Chand Gupta hoisted the national flag at the district-level function organised to mark the 74th Republic Day at Parade Ground here on Thursday.

A grand march past was presented under the leadership of parade commander ACP Surinder Singh. Contingents of the district police, district women police, Haryana Home Guards, the ITBP, NCC cadets and students of Satluj Public School, Sector 4, participated in the march. Addressing the gathering, Gupta said the youth of Haryana consider it their pride to join the Army, which was the reason that every 10th soldier was from the state.

Gupta said benefits of schemes and services of various departments were being provided online so that every person in the state could avail of these. Under the ‘My Family-My Identity’ programme, family identity cards (Parivar Pehchan Patra) were being made. So far, about 72 lakh families had registered on the portal and the details of over 64.85 lakh families had been verified. The stated government had linked the social security pension to the family ID card.
