This refers to a news report, ‘Councillors want more, so what if MC is broke!’, published in these columns recently. It was intriguing to learn that after getting their honorarium raised and the demand for fuel expenses met, the councillors of the cash-strapped Municipal Corporation now want a six-fold increase in the rate at which they are paid for attending meetings. But strangely, they also want manifold increase in the expenses now being incurred on the ‘refreshments’ being provided to them during meetings, as an incentive to have greater participation at such meetings. One really wonders whether the hapless city residents truly deserve to be blessed with such ‘self-serving’ councillors to represent them at the civic body? Such councilors should be shown the door for treating the Municipal Corporation’s scarce resources as their fiefdom.

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
