Many residents were today surprised to receive water bills for March and April based on the hiked rates.

The UT Administration had issued a notification on May 25 to put the hike in water tariff on hold till March 2022. That means the bills from May 25 onwards will be on the normal rates.

In September last year, the UT Administration had notified an increase between 50 per cent and 200 per cent depending upon the category of users and water consumption level.

Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition, Devinder Singh Babla, wrote to Mayor Ravi Kant Sharma, saying that if the next bills were based on the hike rates, he would go on hunger strike.
