Residents of Sector 16 were perturbed over a private school’s decision to install a new gate on a B-road in the area. They alleged it would lead to traffic chaos and inconveniences residents.
The residents filed a complaint with the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP). In their complaint, they pointed-out that the private school had started the installation of a entry and exit gate in front of their houses, which was not covered in the zoning plan of the sector.
Manisha Multani, a resident of the area, said the school administration presently had an arrangement of using its main gate for entry and exit of traffic. “The school operates from 7 am to 9.30 pm (comprising two academic shifts and sports activities). The increase in school activities has resulted in manifold increase in children, staff and vehicular movement in our area. Even on holidays, the school conducts sports activities and functions like an examination centre.”
The residents added that they were unable to enter or exit the area during the time of the school’s opening and closing hours. “Many of us are senior citizens. What would one do when faced with an emergency-like situation,” a resident said.
The residents said they wanted the HSVP to stop the school from installing the gate in front of their houses. The residents also met Chief Administrator Chander Shekhar Khare and Estate Officer of HSVP Manav Malik.
Responding, Malik said he had informed the residents that the HSVP would not allow installation of an illegal gate at the premises. “We are following the zoning plan of the area strictly. Therefore, I have forwarded the matter to the survey team of the HSVP to submit a report regarding the matter.”
