There will be restricted entry for people coming to Chandigarh for about four hours in the morning due to the security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations. Police personnel will man the entry and exit points at Chandigarh borders. Sources said only the entry of ambulances, people involved in essential services would be allowed from 8 am to around 12.15 pm till the Independence Day celebrations are over at the Parade Ground, Sector 17. “Although the deployment of the police at the entry/exit points will start from 6 am, entry of people is restricted from around 8 am. Commuters will only be allowed to enter Chandigarh after checking.” said a policeman.

As many as 3,800 police personnel, including the traffic police, Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), paramilitary force, mounted staff, the Police Control Room (PCR) wing will be on high alert.
