A Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) patwari, Rakesh Saini, was attacked while inspecting a plot on allegedly encroached land in Madanpur on January 6. The incident came to light after Saini lodged a formal police complaint and an inquiry was initiated.
As per the complaint, Saini was at Gugamadi in Madanpur around 5 pm when he was confronted by Amrik Singh, Dalbir Singh, their sons, and others. The group allegedly assaulted him, dragged him from the site, and attacked him with a sharp object. Saini sustained injuries to his fingers and body while attempting to shield himself. He also alleged that his gold chain was stolen during the altercation.
The police later visited the scene, recorded statements, and issued a Medico-Legal Report (MLR), which documented several injuries.
On examining the CCTV footage, the police ruled out the involvement of Amrik and Dalbir Singh. Avtar Singh and Harpreet Singh (sons of Amrik) along with Ravinder Singh (son of Dalbir) were identified as the perpetrators. The footage also contradicted Saini’s claim regarding the theft of his gold chain.
A case has been registered at the Chandimandir police station.
