“Civil Defence volunteers will be strategically deployed at specific locations along these routes to prevent re-emergence of unauthorised vendors, assist in regulating pedestrian and vehicular movement during peak hours, support traffic police in managing bottlenecks, and to provide on-ground coordination during enforcement and road safety activities,” the DC ordered while chairing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee here today.

“The deployment will ensure that unauthorised vendors do not return and cause traffic hurdles and will help in maintaining smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow,” he said.

The DC also instructed the representative of the Health Department to ensure early implementation of Emergency Device for Accident Response (EDAR). He emphasised that the system would facilitate faster emergency medical response, timely evacuation of injured persons and improved coordination between hospitals, ambulances and enforcement agencies.

Regarding the construction of the Traffic Police Assistance Booth, the DC directed that the work be completed by the end of December. He directed the Engineering Department to expedite the work related to the raising of kerbs along various roads.
